Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
