Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed on Friday that Cole Palmer is set to return for the squad's vital Premier League fixture against London rivals Arsenal.
The young England international had been sidelined due to a broken toe sustained after an unfortunate occurrence.
âHe is fit to begin and feature,â Maresca commented. âEveryone is happy.â
This season, Palmer has been limited to four outings in all tournaments, netting two goals.
After joining from Manchester City in 2023, he has achieved 45 goals and 29 assists in 101 games for the London club.
âHe is our best player, we are happy he is back, we need to provide him with time to be completely ready,â Maresca continued. âHis past performances have been excellent and no doubt he is going to do very good for this club in the future.â
The Merseyside club were unsuccessful in their protest against Idrissa Gueye's sending off for an on-field altercation with teammate Michael Keane during the team's single-goal triumph at Manchester United.
The 36-year-old Senegal player was sent off only 13 minutes into the game after slapping Keane during a disagreement over a misplaced pass.
Gueye promptly expressed regret, and the teammates were seen making up afterwards in a light-hearted social media post.
However, the challenge against the dismissal was denied, and Gueye must serve a three-game suspension, leaving Everton short-staffed for their next fixture against Newcastle United.
âWe have appealed it and our appeal was turned down,â manager David Moyes revealed. âWe havenât been given any reason why it was turned down but we did appeal it.â
When asked about any further fallout from the event, Moyes added: âThe matter was resolved instantly, it was done, that was it, we progressed swiftly and it was all sorted within the team environment.â
The club's new signing Yoane Wissa has practiced with his new teammates for the initial occasion since sustaining a knee problem shortly after his move from his former club in the autumn.
Manager Eddie Howe confirmed the news on Friday but withheld a potential comeback timeline for the 29-year-old.
Newcastle brought in the forward for a significant fee to replace Alexander Isak, who moved to Liverpool for a record-breaking transfer fee.
Regrettably, Wissa was hurt while on national team service before he could make his debut for his new club.
âHe is progressing nicely, he trained with us for the first time on midweek, so I was really pleased with how he looked,â Howe said. âThis marked his debut in a competitive setting with the squad. Letâs see how he reacts today.â
Howe added: âWe have a target return date, but itâs likely best if I withhold that information. We wish to prevent any disappointment. Of course, we want to involve him as promptly.â
Additionally, Kieran Trippier will be sidelined for a month with a hamstring issue.
The Hammers head coach Nuno EspĂrito Santo has insisted that Liverpool' recent poor form âshould not be a focusâ as his side prepares to take on the struggling top-flight title holders.
The Liverpool manager's team has lost six of the last seven Premier League games, dropping out of the upper half of the table.
Nevertheless, Nuno highlighted that there can be no taking it easy when the teams clash on the weekend at the London Stadium.
âLiverpool are a quality side and in football, what counts is what you do on the day,â Nuno said. âWe anticipate facing the league champions, players that are skilled and able of doing great things, so we have to get ready.
âThe past of the results before, the performance of the teams, is not that important. It is about the match day. Knowing that we are going to face a very good team, that has players capable of doing amazing feats, so we have to prepare thoroughly, to compete.â
The Hammers will welcome back Lucas PaquetĂĄ after his suspension, while Crysencio Summerville and Dinos Mavropanos are progressing in their return from fitness issues.
Nottingham Forest's boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that Morgan Gibbs-White will be fit for the side's home fixture against Brighton on the weekend.
The English player was absent for the midweek European game against Malmö due to a back injury.
âHopefully itâs settling down,â Dyche said as he got ready to face the Brighton manager's team, who have taken a decent haul from their last three outings.
âItâs like a bad back, but a waking-up sort of injury, one where you just sleep funny or twist funny. So weâre not expecting, at this point anyway, that itâs very severe and itâs settling down already. So weâre hopeful that itâll be fine for the weekend.â
Murillo was experiencing discomfort in his hamstring muscle after the comfortable European victory, but Dyche said the player âshould be fineâ.
However, Ola Aina (thigh injury), Douglas Luiz (thigh), Dilane Bakwa (hamstring), Chris Wood (knee), and the defender (hip) are likely to miss out.
Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner believes that the setback of midweek's Conference League defeat to the French side is a sign of how much progress the team has advanced in challenging on multiple fronts.
The FA Cup winners went ahead at Stade de la Meinau through Tyrick Mitchell's first-half goal but were pegged back by Liam Rosenior's team, who climbed to second in the group standings.
Crystal Palace now switch focus to Premier League action with a home fixture against Manchester United, and Glasner is confident his team can maintain their challenge for a Champions League spot.
âComparable to the recent setback at Goodison Park, it just feels that it was entirely needless and it is our fault,â Glasner remarked. âAlternatively, we have to accept it. The commitment was there but it is a game we ought not to have lost.â
Glasner stated that Borna Sosa would not be available for the weekend's game after he did not travel to Strasbourg, but Will Hughes, who was substituted during the opening period against Strasbourg, is expected to be in the matchday squad.
